In 1895 Philippe Chuit and Martin Naef founded a small company in Geneva, Switzerland, Chuit, Naef & Co, Philippe Chuit, a talented Swiss chemist and Martin Naef, a very shrewd businessman.
They rented Charles Firmenich's plant and opened up molecules such as Dianthine® and Iralia® to the company's first customer, Francois Coty.
Later, Charles Firmenich's daughter, Therèse, married Philippe Chuit and her older brother, Frederic, later joined the company as a salesperson. Following the retirement of Chuit and Naef, the Firmenich family became the company's main partner, eventually changing the name of the company to Firmenich & Co. in 1934.
Since then, on the basis of entrepreneurship and pioneering spirit, Firmenich has always maintained its independence. Today, Fenmei Italy has become the world's leading private sector companies.
